Retailer & Supplier Order Testing Process

When a new brand joins StockShare or a retailer begins onboarding supplier products to their store, we strongly encourage running a full test order and refund flow. Testing ensures both the retailer and supplier are aligned on how orders move through Shopify and StockShare, and helps confirm that product syncing, fulfilment, and return workflows are all functioning correctly before real customers begin purchasing.

Product test order

  1. Retailer publishes a product from relevant supplier onto their Shopify store. Retailer then sets this product “active” in Shopify.
  2. Retailer places order on their website for the specific supplier product from the step above. Note: this must be placed as a real order on the website.
  3. Retailer checks their Stockshare and Shopify to see the order has come through.
  4. Supplier checks their Stockshare and Shopify to see the order has come through.
  5. Supplier fulfils order as per a usual order in Shopify or their usual ERP.
  • You can use a fake tracking link and number (example: auspost.com.au). However please note, a real tracking link is required in a real order.
  1. Retailer checks their Shopify and Stockshare for the “completed” status of the order. Once this has been approved on both ends, the test order has been successfully completed.

Product test refund

  1. Now the order has been “completed”, it is time to initiate a test refund. The retailer initiates the return: https://stockshare.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/51000331437-how-to-do-a-return-as-a-retailer
  1. Retailer must click on the order in Stockshare and click “create return”.
  2. Retailer follows the return process and prompts in Stockshare until the return has been submitted to the supplier.
  3. The supplier then clicks in “dropship returns” on the left side panel and click into the order. The supplier then marks it as “delivered” and accepts this return in Stockshare.
  4. This completes the refund/return process for the supplier, as they received the returned item.
  5. Retailer needs to then refund their customer in Shopify as per their normal return/refund process.
